कान्तिपुर मिडिया ग्रुपः विचार लेखका निम्ति आह्वान

'कान्तिपुर दैनिक' र 'द काठमाडौं पोस्ट' नयाँ विचारको खोजीमा छन् । नेपाल र नेपाल जोडिएको बाँकी विश्वका बारेमा भन्नुपर्ने आवश्यकता बोध भएका लेखक, विचारक, कलाकारका लागि सिर्जनात्मक लेख तथा टिप्पणीका लागि हाम्रा सञ्चारमाध्यमको स्पेश खुला छ।

विशेषगरी, पत्रपत्रिकाका स्पेसमा यसअघि सामान्यतया नदेखिएका व्यक्तिका विचार पढ्न र सुन्न हामी उत्सुक छौँ। यदि तपाईंलाई कहिल्यै कुनै विषयमा कसैले केही लेखिदिए हुन्थ्यो भन्ने लाग्ने गरेको छ भने उक्त व्यक्ति तपाईं नै बन्न सक्नुहुन्छ।

हामी कस्ता सामाग्री खोजिरखेका छौँ ?

संक्षिप्त विचारः ३५० देखि ६०० शब्द। महत्त्वपूर्ण विषयमा स्पष्ट तर्क गरिएको लेख। यसलाई यसरी लेख्नुहोस्, मानौं तपाईं कुनै साथीसँग कुरा गर्दै हुनुहुन्छ जो तपाईंको विचार र धारणाहरूसँग सहमत छैनन्।

व्यक्तिगत निबन्धः ८०० देखि १,२०० शब्द। सार्वजनिक महत्त्वका कुनै विषयभित्र प्रवेश गर्न आफ्नै अनुभव प्रयोग गरिएको लेख। उत्कृष्ट व्यक्तिगत निबन्धहरू लेखकका बारेमा मात्र हुँदैनन्, बरु लेखकको दृष्टिकोणबाट हेरिएको संसारका बारेमा हुन्छन्।

खोजमूलक विचारः १००० देखि १५०० शब्द। तपाईंले रिपोर्टिङ गरिसक्नुभएको छ तर समाचारले भन्न नसक्ने निष्कर्ष छ भने त्यसलाई प्रस्तुत गर्नुहोस्।

दृश्यात्मक टिप्पणीः राजनीतिक कार्टुन, सचित्र निबन्ध, ग्राफिक स्केच। यदि तपाईं समाचार, राजनीति र दैनिक जीवनलाई झल्काउने किसिमका स्केच बनाउनुहुन्छ भने, हामी तपाईंको प्रतीक्षामा छौँ। सबै शैली र माध्यम स्वागतयोग्य छ।

सांस्कृतिक समीक्षा: साहित्य, चलचित्र, संगीत, कला, वास्तुकला, खानपान, खेलकुद जस्ता पक्षहरू, जसले हामी को हौँ र कसरी बाँचिरहेका छौँ भन्ने झल्काउँछ।

'कान्तिपुर दैनिक' का लागि नेपाली युनिकोडमा लेख्नुहोस्। 'द काठमान्डू पोस्ट' का लागि अंग्रेजीमा लेख्नुहोस्। पाठकको रुचि र आवश्यकताअनुसार हामी एक भाषाबाट अर्कोमा अनुवाद पनि गर्नेछौँ।

कस-कसले लेख्न सक्छन् ?

  • हामी त्यस्ता लेखकको खोजीमा छौँ, जो सामान्यतया हाम्रो विचार पृष्ठमा देखिएका छैनन्। जो बीस देखि उनन्चालीस वर्षसम्मका नेपाली युवा हुनुहुन्छ। काठमाडौँबाहिर बस्नुहुन्छ, महिला तथा फरक लैंगिक पहिचानका हुनुहुन्छ। आफ्नो विधाभन्दा बाहिर पनि केही भन्न सक्ने वकिल, अर्थशास्त्री, वैज्ञानिक, डाक्टर र इन्जिनियर, कलाकार र चलचित्रकर्मी, गैरआवासीय नेपाली र आफूलाई लेखनका निम्ति आह्वान गरियोस् भनेर पर्खिरहेका जोसुकैलाई पनि स्वागत छ।

  • यसअघि कहिल्यै लेख छापिएको लेखक हुनुपर्छ भन्ने छैन। कुनै संस्थामा आबद्ध भएको हुनुपर्छ भन्ने पनि छैन। तपाईंसँग बलियो तर्क, स्केच वा देशको जीवनशैलीसँग जोडिएको कथा भए पुग्छ।

  • शब्द लेख्ने लेखक मात्रै खोजिरखेका पनि होइनौं। यदि तपाईंसंग बिचार प्रस्तुत गर्ने कुनै अभिनव माध्यम छ भने, त्यसलाई हामी स्वागत गर्छौं। उदाहरणको लागि भिडियो मनोवाद, वा एनिमेटेड स्केच।

हामीबाट के अपेक्षा गर्ने ?

  • हामीले प्राप्त गर्ने हरेक सामग्री हामी पढ्न सक्दैनौँ, तर यदि तपाईंका बिचार हाम्रो टीमले मनपरायमा हामी एक हप्ता भित्र जवाफ दिनेछौँ। त्यो चरणमा, हामी लेखको पारिश्रमिकमा सहमत हुनेछौं। लेख अघि बढाउने निर्णय भएमा स्पष्ट खाका दिइनेछ। सबै लेखहरु सम्पादन गरिनेछ। लेखलाई लाखौँ पाठकमाझ पुग्ने सबै प्रकारका प्लाटफर्महरूमा प्रकाशित गरिनेछ।

Kantipur Media Group: An Open Invitation for Opinion Contributors

Write for us. Draw for us. Argue with us.

Kantipur Daily and The Kathmandu Post are looking for new voices. We are opening our opinion, commentary, and creative pages to writers, thinkers, artists, and illustrators who have something to say about Nepal — and the world Nepal is part of.

We are especially interested in hearing from people who do not usually appear in newspapers, or news publications that reach a large audience. If you have been thinking “I wish someone would write about this” — that someone can be you.

What We Are Looking For

Short Opinion Pieces 350-600 words. One clear argument. A position on something that matters. Write it as if you are talking to a smart friend who doesn’t share your assumptions.

Personal Essays 800-1,200 words. Use your own experience to enter a public question. The best personal essays are not about the writer — they are about the world, seen through the writer.

Reported Opinion 1,000-1,500 words. You’ve done the reporting. You have a conclusion the news story can’t say. Say it.

Visual Commentary Political cartoons, illustrated essays, graphic sketches. If you make images that respond to the news, to politics, to daily life in Nepal, we want to see your work. All styles in all media are welcome.

Cultural Criticism Review, essay, or argument about literature, film, music, art, architecture, food, sport — anything that reflects who we are and how we live.

Write in Nepali (unicode) for Kantipur Daily. Write in English for The Kathmandu Post. We will translate from one language to another if we think it will be relevant for the other audience.

Who Should Write to Us

  • We are actively seeking contributors who are not currently in the pages of both these newspapers. That includes young Nepalis in their 20s and 30s; people writing from outside Kathmandu; women and non-binary voices; lawyers, economists, scientists, doctors, and engineers with something to say beyond their discipline; artists and filmmakers; Nepalis in the diaspora; anyone who has been waiting to be asked.

  • You do not need to have published before. You do not need an affiliation. What you do need is a strong argument, or an image, or a story that bears on the life of this country.

  • We're not just looking for writers who can write words. If you have an innovative way to present your ideas, we welcome them. For example, a video essay, or an animated sketch.

What to expect from us

We do not have the bandwidth to read everything we receive. If our team likes your idea, we will respond to you within a week. At that stage, we will agree on a writer’s fee. If we decide to commission a piece, you will receive a clear brief before you write. You will be edited — regardless of who you are. And your work will appear on platforms that reach millions of Nepali readers.

How to Pitch

Send us the idea for your pitch in no more than 200 words describing what you want to write (or, for visual work, send us a couple of samples of existing work). Please do not send pre-written opinions.
