Senior Producer, Podcast

Kantipur Media Group

Kantipur Media Group is looking to hire a senior producer, a role responsible for architecting and managing KMG’s overall podcasting ecosystem. The primary responsibility of the role will be to lead a strategic programming reset of Kantipur Radio, moving the organization from traditional “talk-and-play” radio to a diverse, on-demand audio portfolio that recaptures urban audiences, the digital diaspora, and younger audiences. This role acts as the central editorial and production hub connecting our print, digital, and broadcast units.

What You’ll Do

Editorial Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Establish and scale a sustainable production pipeline for a diverse range of audio products, including daily news summaries, weekly narrative series, and investigative deep-dives.

  • Lead the creative development of new formats that move beyond filler content to deliver presence, perspective, and personality.

  • Set and maintain the gold standard for audio quality at KMG, ensuring all productions distinguish the brand through superior production planning and audio finalization.

  • Act as the primary editorial bridge between Kantipur Daily, The Kathmandu Post, and Kantipur FM, converting high-value print journalism and live radio into polished on-demand content.

  • Synchronize with newsrooms to package complex stories across complementary formats, ensuring audio content serves as a "News Decoder" for print and digital reports.

  • Oversee the entire production lifecycle, from conceptualization and scripting to output and dissemination across all major podcast platforms.

  • Manage and upgrade the audio infrastructure, ensuring production teams have the necessary tools (e.g., high-quality microphones and editing suites) to meet industry standards.

  • Navigate complex music licensing and intellectual property issues, prioritizing human-driven, original formats that are safe for global on-demand distribution.

  • Manage the strategic distribution of content across the KMG app, FM airwaves, and global platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Who You Are
  • A storyteller with a deep understanding of how to use voice and sound establish a relationship with listeners.

  • Someone with advanced technical skills in audio finalization, mixing, and sound design.

  • Have a proven ability to navigate multiple editorial newsrooms and align diverse professional interests under a unified audio strategy.

  • Possess technical knowledge of RSS management, metadata optimization, and digital marketing for audio content.

  • Has an ability to drive an organizational mindset shift, guiding veteran radio staff and new producers toward an online listener-led future.
